first_imgDays after National Conference (NC) president and former Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah dared Right-wing parties to unfurl the Indian tricolour in Kashmir, a group of Shiv Sena members arrived in Srinagar on Wednesday and made a bid to unfurl the flag.Scores of Shiv Sena activists, who appeared at the city centre of Lal Chowk early in the morning, were detained by the police.“I want to advise to Dr. Abdullah not to indulge in anti-national activities and stop favouring the Hurriyat [All Parties Hurriyat Conference],” said Shiv Sanik leader Manish Sahni before being detained by the police.Mr. Sahni also warned Pakistan “to stop cross-border terrorism and violation of ceasefire”.The group claimed that the move to unfurl the national flag was initiated on the instructions of Shiv Sena’s national president Udhav Thackeray and Yuva Sena national president Aditya Thackeray.“Shiv Saniks accepted the challenge of Dr. Abdullah to hoist the national flag at Lal Chowk.
